[Class 46] A modification of the method described in the parent Specification of cleaning and replenishing the oil in the sump or reservoir of the oil-circulating system of an engine or machine includes temporarily introducing a filter of ample capacity and high efficiency and a pump adding clean oil, and circulating oil by means of the introduced pump from the sump or reservoir through the introduced filter and back to the engine through the filling orifice or at some other suitable position. As shown a trolley 1 supports ar oil storage tank 6 and a filter 9, the filter casing being provided with a header 12 having an inlet 13 for dirty oil and an outlet 14 for filtered oil. The inlet and outlet have connections for flexible piping 15, 16 which may carry an adaptor or other connections for replacing the normal filter on an engine. A length of pipe may be an alternative fitting to the connection on pipe 16 so that filtered liquid may be supplied through the length of pipe to the filling orifice of the engine. A pipe 18 leading from the tank 6 and a pipe 19 from the engine sump or alternatively connectible by a two-way valve 20 to a motordriven pump 21. The pump delivers to the dirty side of the filter 9. A finer filter 30 is arranged in parallel with the main filter 9 and delivers through a pipe 33 to the engine sump.</p> |
