LOOKUP APPARATUS USING A INTERNAL CONTENTS ADDRESSABLE MEMORY MODULE

A lookup apparatus using an internal contents addressable memory module is provided to perform high speed lookup function with low cost by using a contents addressable memory in an ASIC chip. A lookup engine(11) outputs a source address or a target address extracted with a request signal to a number of internal contents addressable memories(12), and performs lookup by using the contents address transmitted from the contents addressable memory instead of a hash key when a hit signal outputted from the contents addressable memory is a high signal, and performs lookup by using the hash key when the hit signal is a low signal. The contents addressable memories are comprised in a chip, and store contents data corresponding to the source address or the target address.
