A tray driving apparatus of an optical disk player is provided to minimize overloading of a loading motor which moves a tray and to reduce the number of components by stopping the loading motor after a predetermined period of time. A tray driving apparatus(100) which opens and closes a tray of an optical disk player comprises a loading motor(110), a control unit(120), and a timer(130). The loading motor generates a drive force for reciprocating the tray. The control unit controls the driving of the loading motor by applying an operation signal for opening and closing of the tray to the loading motor. The timer counts from application of the operation signal, and outputs a stop signal to stop the loading motor after a predetermined time.
