910,090. Dielectric heating of plastics. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. Aug. 18, 1960 [Sept. 11, 1959], No. 28599/60. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group VIII] . In a method of surface welding plastic materials by pressure in an electric high-frequency alternating field the electrodes 1, 2 having chambers 3 which are water-cooled subsequent to the welding process while the pressure is maintained, cooling is also effected during the welding process and the electric energy of the alternatir g field is so intense that the cooling during the welding process is practically ineffective. The plastic is polyvinyl chloride and the body to be welded comprises alternate strata of polyvinyl chloride and wood. The electrodes 1, 2 have each a chamber or a system of chambers 3. The electrode 1 is connected with a pressing ram and is vertically reciprocated and electrode 2 is mounted on a table or on a stationary part of the press. The cooling pipes have coils 8, 10. The laminated body is used as a floor covering. |
