A self-propelled agricultural machine chops crop residues with a shredder (22) that incorporates a blade sharpening grinding tool (50) under a hood (44). The hood has a lift/lower jack that covers the blades in operation and moves to a sharpening position in which the blades are partially exposed. The hood (44) has a position-lock that can lock the hood in any chosen position.
