An apparatus and a method for guiding travel using a navigation terminal are provided to enhance user convenience by servicing guidance messages and motion picture or still images based on the latest travel information. An apparatus for guiding travel using a navigation terminal includes a server for providing travel information and a navigation terminal. The navigation terminal includes a GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver(302), a travel information receiver(304), a controller(306), a memory(308), a display unit(312), and an input unit(310). The GPS receiver receives current position information. The travel information receiver receives the travel information and guidance messages from the server. The controller checks the arrival of a target destination, the distance with the target destination, and the guide announcement on the target destination. The memory stores the travel information and guidance messages. The display unit displays motion picture or still images while guiding the travel information and guidance messages. The input unit is used for inputting instructions from a user. |
