The edge fitting has a fixation unit for fixing a mounting plate (11) on an edge (4) of an opening. The fixation unit has a stop (13) that is movable for fixing the plate on the edge for being displaced from free position towards locked position. The stop is inserted between front walls (2, 3) of the opening in the free position. The stop is housed and wedged between the mounting plate and stopper (7) in a manner to ensure placing of the plate against the edge, which prohibits displacement of the plate with respect to the edge. An independent claim is also included for sliding opening such as door or window.
