A vacuum cleaner is provided to prevent separation of a dust collecting unit from a main body by forming a handle at the dust collecting unit for easily handling the dust collecting unit. A vacuum cleaner comprises a main body(100), a dust collecting unit, a handle(210), and a fixing lever(220). The dust collecting unit is vertically placed at a placing part formed at the main body. The handle formed at the dust collecting unit easily handles the dust collecting unit. The fixing lever placed at the handle fixes the dust collecting unit on the main body to be placed in the placing part, and has an operating part exposed to the upper outer part of the handle. The fixing lever also consists of a hook part(226) selectively inserted into a hook insertion groove(132) formed at the main body, and a connection part(224) transferring the operating power applied to the operating part to the hook part.
