A therapeutic agent for preventing and treating prion diseases is provided to treat the prion diseases and all diseases related to damage thereof effectively and prevent the prion diseases conveniently. A therapeutic agent of degenerative brain diseases such as human kuru disease, Creutzfeldt Jakob disease(CJD), variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease(vCJD), iatrogenic Creutzfeldt Jakob disease(iCJD), family Creutzfeldt Jakob disease(fCJD), sporadic Creutzfeldt Jakob disease(sCJD), Gerstmann Straussler Scheinker syndrome(GSS), fatal familial insomnia(FFI), fatal sporadic insomnia(FSI), scrapie disease, bovine spongiform encephalopathy(BSE), transmissible mink encephalopathy, chronic wasting disease(CWD), and feline spongiform encephalopathy(FSE) comprises: at least one polyanionic compound selected from the group consisting of is selected from the group consisting of phosphotungstic acid, sodium tungstate, sodium molybdate, ammonium paramolybdate, and uranyl acetate; and at least one cationic compound selected from the group consisting of MgCl2, CaCl2, MnCl2, CuCl2 and ZnCl2, wherein the concentration of the polyanionic compound is 0.001-0.008% based on 8.5mum of the MgCl2.
