METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DEBLOCKING FILTERING

A deblocking filtering method and an apparatus thereof are provided to reduce blocking artifacts by deblocking filter blocks considering whether the blocks to be deblocking-filtered are encoded through illumination compensation. A deblocking filtering method includes judging whether at least one of tow adjacent blocks p and q are to be blocking-filtered is encoded using illumination compensation by deblocking units(410); setting a filtering intensity to a boundary strength Bs=K1 and performing deblocking filtering(420) when it is judged that the at least one of two adjacent blocks p and q is encoded using illumination compensation in step 410; and setting the filtering intensity to a boundary strength Bs=K2 and performing deblocking filtering(430) when it is judged that the at least one of two adjacent blocks p and q is encoded using illumination compensation in step 410.
