In a motor-driven power steering apparatus for a vehicle in which a worm wheel of a worm gear type speed reduction mechanism is fixed to a pinion shaft of a rack and pinion mechanism, a direction of a torsion angle beta of a helical pinion provided in the pinion shaft is set to be opposite to a direction of a tooth lead angle gamma of the worm wheel.
