METHOD AND APPARATUS RECEIVING SYSTEM INFORMATION BLOCK IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for receiving system information transmitted from a base station in a mobile communication system are provided to improve a reception rate of an SIB through combining even when an error occurs in the SIB that UE has received from the base station. UE(User Equipment) receives an SIB(System Information Block) transmitted from an E-RAN(Evolved Radio Access Network)(420). The UE checks errors of the received SIB, and stores the received SIB if an error occurs(430,440). The UE receives an MIB(Master IB) value tag and an SIB value tag transmitted by the E-RAN at the next scheduling point of time(450). If the UE receives modification time information, the UE newly receives an SIB(460,470). The UE checks errors of the SIB(480). The UE compares an MIB value tag receiving at least one of a stored MIB value tag or an SIB value tag, the SIB value tag and modification time(490). According to preset combining conditions, it is determined whether to combine and store the received SIP(495).
