A keyboard touch detector for detecting key touch information accurately by means of a plurality of optical sensors arranged at an improved mounting density without influence of the light from each optical sensor on the other optical sensors. The detector comprises a shutter (6) pivotable by a pivot action of a key (4), optical sensors (7, 8) provided near the pivoting path of the shutter (6) and each having light-emitting sections (7a, 8a) and light-receiving sections (7b, 8b) for receiving the lights emitted from the light-emitting sections on both sides of the pivoting path, and touch information detecting means (23) for detecting touch information according to reception/nonreception of light by the light-receiving sections corresponding to the opening/closure of the optical paths of the lights from the light-emitting section of the optical sensors (7, 8) by the shutter (6) when the key (4) pivots. Each pair of adjacent two of the optical sensors (7, 8) is so arranged that the light-emitting section of one of the optical sensors and the light-receiving section of the other are adjacent to each other and arranged on the same side of the pivoting path of the shutter (6).
