A method and a computer-readable media for controlling optical zoom tracking are provided to perform the optical zoom function regardless of remaining battery capacity by the selective changing of the optical zoom magnification and tracking resolution according to the remaining battery capacity, and therefore to improve the camera function. In case of operating or selecting optical zoom function in a digital camera or a mobile phone(S61), the remaining battery capacity of the digital camera or the mobile phone is measured(S62). If the remaining battery capacity is less than a prescribed level sufficient to perform zoom tracking function along the all optical zoom tracking curve, a division tracking mode is executed(S63,S66). Otherwise, a user selects the whole zoom tracking mode performing zoom tracking function along the all optical zoom tracking curve or division zoom tracking mode(S63,S67). If the remaining battery capacity is less than the prescribed level sufficient to perform whole tracking mode or a user selects and performs the division tracking mode, a direct magnification in each region or pre-established magnification for each area is selected(S64). The moving resolution of the variator lens and master lens, that is, a zoom tracking resolution is selected according to the selected magnification(S65). If the battery capacity remains above prescribed level sufficient to perform whole tracking mode and the whole tracking mode is performed by the user's selection, the zoom tracking function is performed along the original zoom tracking curve(S68).
