CONTACT, METHOD OF DETECTING CONSUMPTION OF CONTACT, AND GAS-BLAST CIRCUIT BREAKER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide contacts for a gas-blast circuit breaker applicable irrespective of whether the gas-blast circuit breaker is newly installed or already installed, and capable of detecting the consumption of the contacts, a method of detecting the consumption of the contacts, and the gas-blast circuit breaker.

SOLUTION: These contacts 10 include a pair of conductors disposed in a breaking section of the gas-blast circuit breaker for extinguishing an arc occurring when interrupting current, by a first insulating gas. At least one of the contacts 10 has therein a gas filling section 20 for filling a second insulating gas which is relatively higher or lower in pressure than those of the first insulating gas. The first insulating gas and the second insulating gas are in equilibrium with each other in the breaking section 2 or the gas filling space 20, when the consumption of the contacts 10 develops.
