PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a redundancy technology for a communication network which can be easily applied to an existing plant. SOLUTION: The system includes: trunk lines 1A and 1B formed as multiplexed networks; trunk line switching apparatuses 2 which are disposed at least at two ends of the trunk lines 1A and 1B and select the trunk line 1A used for connection to communication stations ST, detect an abnormality of the trunk line 1A in use and switch from the trunk line 1A in use to the other trunk line 1B if the abnormality is detected; and branch lines 3 which connect the communication stations ST to the trunk line switching apparatuses 2.
