PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boiler capable of preventing damage of a drive motor used in a blower device for the boiler, and taking into consideration boiler structural simplification, economy, or the like. SOLUTION: The boiler 100 is provided with a blower 10, and a passage throttling means 25 provided on a downstream side of the blower 10. A controller 30 is provided wherein, the blower 10 is started by a star connection method in a first state of reducing an air capacity by the passage throttling means 25, and when a rotational frequency of the blower becomes a predetermined rotational frequency, it is changed to a second state of increasing the air capacity more than the first state by the passage throttling means 25, and driving of the blower 10 is switched from the star connection method to a delta connection method to carry out pre-purge.
