PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque transmitting member having excellent durability and torsional rigidity and a harmonic drive gear therefor. SOLUTION: The torque transmitting member is made of a Ti-based alloy comprising a thermo-elastic type martensitic single phase or the like, and is provided with a cylindrical body and a bottom part. The cylindrical body has a toothed or splined plastic part in the peripheral surface opposite to the bottom part and a non-toothed or non-splined part in the outer peripheral surface on the bottom part side. The rigidity of the end side opposite to the bottom part of the cylindrical body is different from the rigidity of the bottom end side of the cylindrical body, and the modulus of elasticity in the non-toothed or non-splined part of the cylindrical body is continuously reduced from the bottom end side of the cylindrical body to the end opposite to the bottom end side. The ratio of the average modulus of elasticity of the toothed or splined region of the cylindrical body and the average modulus of elasticity of the bottom part is 0.9 or less.
