摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Mg-containing oxide film-coated iron powder having low coercive force, and to provide a composite soft magnetic material produced using the powder and having low coercive force and low core loss. SOLUTION: The Mg-containing oxide film-coated iron powder is obtained by coating the surface of raw material powder in which, when each cross-section of N-pieces of iron powder is observed, the number of crystal grains observed in the cross-section of each iron powder lies in the range of N+1 to 2N, and having a componential composition comprising, by mass, 0.01 to 0.5% Mn, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities with an Mg-containing oxide film having a componential composition satisfying Mg<SB>1-X</SB>Fe<SB>X</SB>O (wherein, 0≤X<1) and having a thickness of 10 to 500 nm.
