PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a three-dimensional shape at high speed on the basis of compressed data. SOLUTION: The subdivision pattern of a surface constituting the three-dimensional shape is determined (step S2). At the time, the numbers of divisions of three sides are defined as i, j and k (i, j and k are exponentiation of two and i≤j≤k) in the case that the surface is trilateral, a first subdivision pattern to a plurality of trilaterals for which the numbers of subdivisions of respective sides are made (i, i, i) is determined in the case of i>1, a second subdivision pattern to the plurality of trilatrals for which the numbers of the subdivisions of the respective sides are made (1, j, j) is determined in the case of i=1 and j>1, and a third subdivision pattern to the plurality of trilaterals for which the numbers of the subdivisions of the respective sides are made (1, 1, k) is determined in the case of i=j=1 and k>1. Then, while the surface subdivided by subdivision processing can be subdivided further, the processing of determining the subdivision pattern, the processing of determining a curved surface shape and the subdivision processing are repeated.
