PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication system, a unit and a data communication method, executing data communication based on the USB specification between an information processor and a peripheral device. SOLUTION: This data communication system 10 comprises a main unit 20 and at least one subunit 50, and executes the data communication with the external device by the USB protocol. The main unit has: a function provision means 40 for providing a function as a USB device; and a data flow control means 46 controlling data transmission with the subunit 50. The subunit 50 has: a USB device provision means 80; a bus interface provision means 82 executing signal transmission with the external device; and a data exchange means with the main unit.
