A lightweight mold structure is disclosed, which includes a metal layer and a polymer filled with metal support. The support provides strength to the mold, without the added weight of a solid metal structure. The metal utilized in the polymer is preferably a plurality of metal spheres. Methods of forming the lightweight mold are also disclosed.
