The present invention relates to a rock bolt (10) comprising first (11) a nd second ends (12), a shaft (13) extending between the ends, and an anchori ng device (23) extending along a first part of the shaft adjacent the first end. The anchoring device comprises a mandrel (29), and at least one expansi on element (24) overlaying the mandrel. The expansion element is displaced r adially outwardly on a predetermined relative movement between the mandrel a nd the expansion element. The expansion element is joined to a connector (25 ) to form an anchor assembly. The anchor assembly is keyed to the mandrel. T he anchor assembly comprises relative rotation actuator means (42A, 42B) act ive during rotation of the anchoring device. The invention further relates t o an anchoring device (23) per se.
