PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which is superior in assembly workability and strength and is miniaturized. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 1 of the present invention comprises: a solid-state imaging element 14 for picking up a subject image converged at a focal position of an objective optical system unit 2; a flexible substrate 16 including an electronic component mounting section 31 which is electrically connected to the solid-state imaging element 14 to mount therein an electronic component for performing signal processing of the solid-state imaging element 14 and a cable connecting section 33 for connecting a compound cable 17; and a reinforcing frame 21 for housing the solid-state imaging element 14 and the electronic component mounting section 31 of the flexible substrate 16, wherein the electronic component mounting section 31 of the flexible substrate 16 is disposed within the reinforcing frame 21 and integrally fixed, and the cable connecting section 33 of the flexible substrate 16 is disposed outside the reinforcing frame 21 so as to connect the compound cable 17 to the cable connecting section 33.
