PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently accelerate heating from the start of a drying operation without the need of an electric storage device or the like in a clothes dryer for drying clothes by a heat pump. SOLUTION: By providing a heater between the condenser disposing part and drying chamber communication part of a circulation device for circulating the air of a drying chamber and providing a first section for operating only the heater from the start of the drying operation, a second section for operating a compressor together with the heater after the lapse of the first section and a third section for operating only the compressor after the lapse of the second section for the operation of the heater and the compressor, heating is accelerated within the input limit value of a general household. Thus, heating is sufficiently accelerated from the start of the drying operation without the need of the electric storage device or the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
