<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical capacitor having high energy density and exhibiting excellent output characteristics and a long lifetime. <P>SOLUTION: In the electrochemical capacitor having a positive electrode containing porous carbon, a negative electrode containing lithium titanate represented by general formula Li<SB>x</SB>Ti<SB>5</SB>O<SB>12</SB>(4.1≤x≤6.9), and nonaqueous electrolyte, the following relation is satisfied; 4.1≤a, b≤6.9 and a<b, where, a is the value of x when the terminal voltage is 0V, and b is the value of x when the terminal voltage is 2.75V. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
