摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser scribe technology applicable under a stable condition in the manufacture of a flat panel display comprising thin plate glass, wherein a higher grade machining process compared to a conventional mechanical process is attained, the process of the laser scribe which is conventionally complicated by the heat conduction of the inside of the glass because the laser scribe is carried out using thermal stress caused by heating by the irradiation with laser beam and cooling by the spray of cooling medium is simplified and the break is carried out by applying the conventional technology. <P>SOLUTION: An adhesive layer for sticking glass is made to exist direct below a scribe scheduled position or in an adjacent position to transfer the absorption heat generated on the surface of the glass to the glass of the under part through the adhesive layer. In such a case, the cooling effect due to the heat transfer is increased, thermal characteristics similar to those in thick plate glass are attained and the scribe is carried out under a condition having little difference from that in the thick plate glass. When the scribe and the break are used in combination, the cut surface is graded high with the excellent scribe characteristics without necessitating a post process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p>
