PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a skin damage caused by sunlight, using a function module. SOLUTION: Images of the first and second areas of a human skin (s1, s3) are obtained, and one of the first and second areas of the human skin has a skin area not exposed to a sunlight ray, in the images. Each of the images is thereafter processed to measure a density and a distribution of at least one chromophore, in the imaged skin areas (s2, s4). Then, a relative measured value of the skin damage is calculated using measured results of the densities and distributions of chromophores in the imaged skin areas (s5). The calculated measured value of the skin area is considered as one based upon a covariance measured as to the distribution of chromophore in the same area. The relative measured value of the damage by the sunlight is provided based on a difference between measured values in the exposed skin area and the unexposed skin area. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
