<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of stably efficiently operating by using liquid fuel as a raw material. <P>SOLUTION: When supply of liquid fuel 111A desufurized with a desufurization means 120 to a vaporization means 130 is stopped to stop operation, inert gas is supplied to the downstream side than the desulfurization means 120 with an inert gas supply means 180, inert gas flowing out of a fuel cell 170 by the supply of the inert gas is supplied to the downstream side than the desulfurization means 120 with a circulation means 190 connected to the fuel cell 170.
