MANUFACTURE OF SOLID INK STICK BY EXTRUSION MOLDING, ROLL MOLDING AND SWAGING PROCESSING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing ink sticks for using in a phase change inkjet image forming apparatus.

SOLUTION: The method includes steps of extruding an ink material through an extruding orifice at a temperature higher than the environmental temperature by heat-controlling a phase change ink material until becoming the extruding temperature, forming the extruded ink material into an ink rail, roll-molding the extruded ink rail when the ink rail is moved in the extruding direction, partially forming a part of the shape in the transverse direction with respect to the extruding direction, swage-processing the partially formed and extruded ink rail, dividing the extruded ink rail into ink sticks, and, at the same time, giving a final shape to the ink sticks.
