PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely perform authentication using device invalidation information and encryption based on encryption information when copyright-protected contents on optical disks of different formats are reproduced/recorded. SOLUTION: When reproducing/recording copyright-protected contents on a plurality of formats, media-unique encryption information and device invalidation information are efficiently held based on information commonness, and authentication based on the device invalidation information and encryption based on the encryption information are surely carried out.
