摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device and a communication method, wherein maximum likelihood detection can be applied for reception-side signal detection algorithm in a multi-user MIMO system. SOLUTION: The communication device can select a modulation system used when transmission data error-corrected and encoded by sub-streams are modulated and mapped, and an error correction encoding rate. This communication device includes a minimum Euclidian distance estimating unit which estimates minimum Euclidian distances by the sub-streams by using a channel matrix, an SINR estimating unit which estimates SINR after minimum likelihood detection based upon the minimum Euclidian distances and noise electric power, and a transmission control parameter selector which determines a modulation system common to the sub-streams and error correction and encoding rates by the sub-streams such that a packet error rate estimated based upon the SINR is less than a predetermined value and the total of transmission rates for all the sub-streams becomes maximum.
