PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit-opening mechanism that facilitates circuit-opening operations while removing a magnetic force of a permanent magnet by mechanical operations. SOLUTION: A vacuum circuit breaker is provided with an operating rod 18 coupled to a movable shaft 9 of a vacuum valve 8, a yoke 24 for forming a magnetic path through which the operating rod 18 freely movably penetrates, an armature 20 fixed to the operating rod 18 inside the yoke 24, solenoid coils 21, 22 that move the armature 20 in a circuit-opening direction and in a circuit-closing direction, a permanent magnet 23 that attracts the armature 20 so as to hold a circuit-closed state, a circuit-opening member 19 fixed to the operating rod 18 outside the yoke 24, a plurality of links 25, 28 for transmitting a prescribed circuit-opening operating force to the circuit-opening member 19, and a circuit-opening operating rod 32 for driving a plurality of the links 25, 28.
