PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master roll by which a recording means storing master discriminating information can be attached and detached with both a simple constitution and a good operatability. SOLUTION: In the master roll 5 having a shaft section 2 on which an unprocessed roll-shape master 1 is secured and the recording means 4 storing master discriminating information read out by a detecting means 3 arranged in a device body 100 side, an opening section 12 into which a supporting member 11 for securing the recording means 4 is inserted is formed directing the same in a direction orthogonal to an axial line direction of the shaft section 2 and the supporting member 11 is inserted into the opening section 12 with the recording means 4 secured to the supporting member 11 and the recording means 4 is detachably secured to the shaft section 2.
