PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nucleic acid binding compound such as a primer or a probe including universal bases that can form better base pairs together with four natural bases together.

SOLUTION: This is a nucleic acid binding compound including a detectable reporter group wherein the nucleic acid binding compound includes a back bone, on which a hetero ring group is attached, and can form base pairs together with natural bases. At least one of the hetero cycle groups is N8-glycocilated 8-aza-7-deaza-adenine.
