<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and a method thereof capable of reducing uneven exposure while maintaining throughput and preventing expansion of the device size and cost increase, and achieving a high-quality image. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming device that forms an image by deflecting a laser beam with a polygon mirror having a plurality of polygon surfaces, and making the laser beam scan a photoreceptor comprises a specification part for specifying one surface out of the plurality of the polygon surfaces, and an exposure control part for controlling an amount of exposure for each of the plurality of the polygon surfaces so that total exposure amounts per pitch in the vertical scanning direction are equalized, based on a spot diameter of the laser beam on the photoreceptor, an amount of displacement in the vertical scanning direction for each of the plurality of the polygon surfaces using the surface specified by the specification part as a standard, and the resolution in the vertical scanning direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
