PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber laser where the number of optical components is reduced, alignment of the optical components is made easy and optical axis alignment for coupling exciting light and an optical fiber is also made easy. SOLUTION: The fiber laser is constituted of a semiconductor laser 1, a collimate lens 2, a condenser lens 3 and the optical fiber 6. The optical fiber 6 is constituted of a core 8 and a clad 7. Metal thin films 41 and 51 are directly formed on cross-sections of both end faces of the optical fiber 6. The metal thin films 41 and 51 function as resonator mirrors. The optical fiber 6 and the metal thin films 41 and 51 constitute a resonator structure. A dielectric multilayer film and the like can be used instead of the metal thin films 41 and 51.
