PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing device with built-in optical disk drive can detect a disk with low power consumption without causing any erroneous detection. SOLUTION: The reproducing device is provided with a comparator 61 for comparing both ends voltage of a spindle motor 15c and outputting the result. A control IC 12 determines whether the spindle motor 15 is rotated based on the output of the comparator 16 or not, and a brake pulse is applied to the spindle motor 15 repeatedly until the spindle motor 15 is stopped based on the determination. Thus, the optical disk in the disk drive is discriminated based on the frequency of brake pulses applied until the spindle motor is stopped. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
