PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a phenomenon wherein fuel gas remaining in a gas supply path continues to leak from a gas port even after stopping of fuel gas supply due to a specific gravity difference with air, and oscillating combustion is caused by embers. SOLUTION: In the combustion apparatus, by jetting out fuel gas supplied through the fuel supply path 4 from the gas ejection port 5 of a burner 3 formed downward, flame is formed in a lower side of the gas ejection port 5. A gas pressure regulating valve 7 is provided in the middle of the fuel supply path 4, pressurized fuel gas is supplied by opening the gas pressure regulation valve 7 during combustion, and supply of the fuel gas is stopped by closing the gas pressure regulating valve 7 when extinguishing the flame. A reverse U-shaped curved path 1 wherein a gas pipe is erected upward and then lowered downward, is provided in a portion on a downstream side of the gas pressure regulating valve 7 of the fuel supply path 4 right before the burner 3.
