<p>A hingeless belt comprises modules (30) having opposed leading and trailing sides (36, 38), first and second bases (42, 44) and opposed outer sides (40, 62). The modules are connected to joining members (52) with layers (64) that can be, for example, an adhesive (66). The joining members (52) comprise an elastic material which allows the modular belt to bend and flex, and the modules (30) are made of a hard thermoplastic material. The modules (30) and joining members (52) resists cuts and impacts, the modules (30) and joining members (52) are easy to clean and keep sanitary. The joining members (52) are embodied with different shapes for enhancing the connection with the modules (30), and for enhancing the flexibility of the modular belt as it carries load and as it is driven around a sprocket. There is a molding machine having mold members for making the hingeless belt. There is also a method of making the hingeless belt in the molding machine.</p> |
