<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of utilizing light effectively and suppressing overheating and deterioration action in the periphery of the device while suppressing temperature rise due to light emission, and a projector using this. <P>SOLUTION: A reflecting mirror 4 is arranged so as to cover the rearward side of a second sealing part 14. Accordingly, the reflecting mirror 4 reflects stray light SL to the second sealing part 14 side. By this arrangement, the stray light SL is utilized as effective light.
