PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the number of components, to secure sufficient illuminance on a document exposure surface, to obtain an excellent illuminance distribution by reducing direct light other than light traveling an image read position, and to suppress illuminance unevenness in a main scanning direction. SOLUTION: Respective LEDs 22 constituting a pair of LED arrays 21 which face each other are disposed zigzag by turns on a side facing light projection, and both the LED arrays 21 are mounted on mount parts 24 of a single substrate 23. On the substrate 23, the mount parts 24 are formed as parts where the LED arrays 21 are mounted by bending opposite ends upward, and the LEDs 22 are arranged in the main scanning direction and mounted on top-surface center parts of the mount parts 24. Further, the LED arrays 21 are installed symmetrically about a virtual center axis L which is an irradiated surface on a top surface of a contact glass 401 where a document as an object to be irradiated is placed.
