PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which takes the environment into account, can provide against the reduction of the amount supplied of petroleum resources in the future, and furthermore can improve low fuel consumption, wet grip, and abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. rubber component, 20-70 pts.wt. silica having a specific surface area by nitrogen adsorption of 100-500 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and 5-50 pts.wt. starch composite containing starch, clay and a biodegradable plastic, and 2-20 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. silica, silane coupling agent.
