<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-core optical fiber which can enhance the precision of fluorescence diagnosis. <P>SOLUTION: The multi-core optical fiber includes: a cladding 3 comprising quartz; and a plurality of cores 1 embedded in the cladding 3, each of the cores has a diameter ranging from 1.3μm to 2.0μm, the center of each of the cores has a germanium content of≥20 wt.% to≤30 wt.%, a numerical aperture is from 0.35 to 0.45 and a refractive index profile factorαis from 2.0 to 4.0.
