An information source coding method, which codes a Gaussian integer signal, is provided with a step that inputs a series of signal values of the Gaussian integer signals subjected to code; a step that makes respective two signal values included in the series of signal values a pair of integers in the input order; a step that regards each of the pairs of the integers as lattice points on two-dimensional coordinates, carries out transform from a two-dimensional map to a one-dimensional map to make closer lattices to the origin smaller in value, and obtains an integer value that is not less than 0; and a step that codes the integer values by means of codes used for coding an exponentially distributed information source.
