<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a size in an automatic transmission provided with two sets of multiple-disc clutches. <P>SOLUTION: Each of the first and the second multiple-disc clutches of the automatic transmission has a clutch outer cylinder formed around the same axis as an input shaft and connected to a first or a second rotary element of a shift gear mechanism, a clutch inner cylinder formed around the same axis as the input shaft, a plurality of clutch plates arranged between the clutch outer cylinder and the clutch inner cylinder and slidable in the clutch outer cylinder or the clutch inner cylinder in the axial direction of the input shaft, and a clutch piston movably arranged in the axial direction of the input shaft and fastening the clutch outer cylinder and the clutch inner cylinder by pressing the clutch plates, and is characterized by arranging the clutch outer cylinder and the clutch inner cylinder in the axial direction of the input shaft, and arranging a support wall connected to the input shaft and supporting both the clutch inner cylinders. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
