PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle steering device having a transmission ratio variable mechanism and hydraulic actuator, capable of reducing the number of torsion bars with low rigidity interposed on a steering shaft for transmitting the operation of a steering member to a steering mechanism and capable of improving steering feeling. SOLUTION: The vehicle steering device is provided with the transmission ratio variable mechanism 4 for changing a transmission ratio from a steering wheel 1 to the steering mechanism 3 and a hydraulic cylinder 6 applying steering assist force to the steering mechanism 3 in accordance with operation of the steering wheel 1. A hydraulic control valve 7 is operated by using steering torque detected by a torque sensor 21 provided for operation control of a reaction force compensation motor 5 for adding reaction force torque to the steering wheel 1. As a result, the number of the torsion bars with low rigidity interposed on the steering shaft 2 for transmitting the operation of the steering wheel 1 to the steering mechanism 3 can be reduced to one, and rigidity feeling of the steering operation can be improved to improve steering feeling.
