PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic tracking apparatus 13 using target marks 22 always captured by a television camera even if a hook block 9 for hanging a load is rotated around a wire rope 8. SOLUTION: An apparatus 1 for automatically tracking the hook block of a crane for hanging the load includes: a target mark structure 11 attached to the hook block 9 of the crane for hanging the load, and having a target mark drawn section 21 on which the target marks 22 are drawn; and the automatic tracking apparatus body 13 for capturing the target marks 22 by using the television camera, and having a function for automatically tracking the target marks 22. The target mark structure 11 has the target mark drawn section 21 as a polygonal column or a polygonal pyramid. The target marks 22 are drawn on its faces, respectively.
