PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CVT element having high strength and capable of reducing the abrasion of a CVT pulley. SOLUTION: This CVT element has a body composed of a saddle 11, a neck 12 and a head 13 and is engaged with a ring, and an abutting part 15 abutting on the pulleys 2 and 3, and is adapted to the high torque of an engine by forming the body having high strength by constituting a CVT belt 4 by using the CVT elements 10, 10... whose hardness at the abutting part 15 is set lower than the hardness of the body, and reduces the abrasion of the abutting part (the surface of a groove) with the CVT elements 10, 10... in the pulleys 2 and 3.
