PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generation system having carbon dioxide isolation, and its method. SOLUTION: The power generation system 10 includes at least one turbine system 12. The turbine system 12 includes a compressor section 14 configured to supply compressed oxidant 34, and a combustion chamber 22 configured to combust the compressed oxidant 34 and carbon-based fuel and to generate hot flue gas 31. The turbine system 12 further includes an expander section 24 comprising at least two stages for receiving the hot flue gas 31. The two stages include a high-pressure expander 26 configured to generate expanded exhaust gas 36 rich in CO<SB>2</SB>. The high-pressure expander 26 is fluidly coupled to a low-pressure expander 28 configured to generate final exhaust 52 and electrical energy. A CO<SB>2</SB>separation system 40 is fluidly coupled to the high-pressure expander 26 for receiving the expanded exhaust gas 36 from the high-pressure expander 26 and providing CO<SB>2</SB>lean gas 48 that is then fed to the low-pressure expander 28.
